How It Works:

Bentonite clay acts much like a sponge on the skin by drawing out dirt, oil and toxins. Using the most restorative and nutritious products in nature. This soft, silky, natural clay, when used as a face mask, works like a vacuum, extracts extra oil and contaminants from the pore, combats congestion, exfoliates dead skin cells, leaving the skin totally clean and rejuvenated.

Owing to the immense vitamins and minerals present in bentonite, it is widely used to help treat a variety of ailments, such as mild skin irritations, insect bites or stings, as well as skin blemishes such as Acne. Apply gently to the area that needs attention, cover or wrap with a bandage or gauze, allowing it to draw contaminants, and helping to repair the tissue.

Foot soaks are another great alternative to full-body baths as they can help remove body contaminants, improve circulation, sanitize the skin, and alleviate pain or discomfort.

Bentonite Clay isn't just great for skin, it is also great as a toothpaste or as a mouthwash. It immediately binds to toxins and bacteria in your mouth that surround your teeth, gums, and tongue, leaving you with a shimmering smile and erasing discoloration over time.

Bentonite Clay is an absolute must have for your beauty regime.

How to use:

Facial:

Before you apply mask, wash the area to remove any excess oil and buildup so the mask can penetrate your pores. Mix 1 part clay to 3 parts water, spread a thin layer of the mask onto damp skin either using your fingers or a spatula, being careful to avoid all sensitive areas, such as eyes. Once you’ve applied the mask, leave it on for 15 minutes then rinse off with warm water.

Always patch test anything that you put on your skin, just in case you may have an allergic reaction to it.

Keep in mind some redness after a clay mask application is quite normal. This is because clay brings blood to the surface of your skin while it's absorbing impurities from your skin. This is called “cutaneous vasodilation” The redness can last anywhere from half hour up to a couple of hours depending on severity of redness.

Extreme redness with a painful burning feeling and inflammation may be harmful. That may be an alarming indication of something like an allergic reaction. Or it might only mean that you're using your face mask wrong. Discontinue use immediately.

To calm your skin and bring down the redness try the following:

  • Splash your face with cool water, not freezing water. Very cold temperature might exacerbate the redness. Or use a cool compress to help the blood vessels go back to normal.
  • Use a Tea toner. Polyphenols in tea are naturally anti-inflammatory. It will help calm and soothe the skin down.
  • Avoid direct sunlight for 12 - 48 hours as your skin maybe extra photosensitive after the clay mask and direct exposure may cause a sunburn.

Irritated Skin Treatment:

Apply gently to the area that needs attention, cover or wrap with a bandage or gauze, allowing it to draw contaminants, and helping to repair the tissue. Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse off with warm water.
